No-Cost* Solar & Battery
For Your Home

Pi installs, owns and maintains solar and battery on your home at no equipment cost. You pay one flat $0.26/kWh anytime rate for the energy you use. Property supply charges passed through at cost — no mark-up, no surprises.

South East Queensland · Gold Coast to Brisbane · 1,000-home pilot

*No cost refers to solar & battery equipment and installation — Pi owns and maintains all equipment. The site inspection fee (normally $297) is currently waived during the pilot, until 31 August 2026. Should the inspection identify that property upgrades are required (e.g. electrical infrastructure, switchboard, or structural work), these will be quoted and payable as an additional cost prior to installation. You retain the right to withdraw at this point.

No catch

Why can Pi offer solar & battery at no equipment cost?

Because Pi makes money differently. Pi keeps ownership of the system and earns revenue by managing energy across thousands of homes — so you don't have to buy the hardware.

  1. 1Pi owns the equipment — you never buy, finance or loan it.
  2. 2Pi installs and maintains everything — monitoring, repairs and replacement are included for the life of the agreement.
  3. 3Your battery joins Pi's Virtual Power Plant (VPP).
  4. 4Pi earns revenue from energy arbitrage and grid-stabilisation services across the VPP.
  5. 5That revenue is what lets Pi give your home solar and battery with no equipment cost — you just pay $0.26/kWh for the energy you use.

Why choose Pi Energy for no-upfront-cost solar & battery?

Zero Capital Investment

No purchase price, no loans, no hidden financing for solar & battery equipment. Pi owns and maintains all equipment, including a high-capacity home battery sized to your needs. The $297 site inspection fee is currently waived during the pilot (until 31 August 2026). If the inspection identifies that your property requires electrical infrastructure upgrades, these will be at an additional cost quoted separately — you can withdraw at this stage.

Complete Peace of Mind

Installation, 24/7 monitoring, maintenance, and equipment replacement all included. No surprise bills, repair costs, or maintenance fees. Ever.

Substantial Backup Power

A high-capacity battery keeps your essential loads running during outages — and because your solar recharges it each day, that protection can extend well beyond a single night, potentially indefinitely for essential use. Stay powered through storms and grid disruptions.

Energy Independence

Generate and store your own clean energy. Reduce grid reliance and exposure to volatile energy markets. Control your energy future.

Transparent Simple Pricing

One simple anytime rate: $0.26/kWh for all energy consumed. Property supply and network charges passed through at cost with zero mark-up. No peak/off-peak complexity. What you see is what you pay.

VPP Network Benefits

Your battery joins Pi's Virtual Power Plant. Participate in energy arbitrage and grid stabilization. Pi handles all optimization while you enjoy the benefits.

  6. 6

Activation, Energy Profiling & Pi Billing

Your system is connected to Pi's 24/7 monitoring platform and starts generating and storing clean energy straight away — and from day one you pay the flat $0.26/kWh for the solar and battery energy your Pi system provides. It then runs through an initial energy-profiling period (currently around 90 days) so Pi can learn your home's real usage before your battery is onboarded to Pi's virtual power plant. During this window, any extra power you draw from the grid is still billed by your current electricity retailer at their normal rates — so you'll keep receiving a retailer bill — though your solar and battery should keep that top-up small. Once VPP onboarding is complete, Pi lets you know and all your energy is on the flat $0.26/kWh rate, plus property supply charges at cost with no mark-up.
