Pricing Disclosure

Transparent, simple, and comprehensive energy pricing.

Energy pricing structure

Fixed rate guarantee

Your energy is supplied at a simple, transparent anytime rate of $0.26 per kilowatt-hour (kWh). In addition, property supply charges (daily network/supply fees applicable to your property) are passed through to you at cost with zero mark-up. This means:

  • All energy consumption measured at your property at $0.26/kWh — anytime, no peak/off-peak complexity
  • Property supply and network charges passed through at the exact cost Pi is charged — no margin added
  • No seasonal or time-of-use variations on the energy rate

How Pi delivers this rate

Following your Energy Intelligence Audit (EIA), Pi designs and installs a solar and battery system specifically sized for your property's energy requirements. Our systems are intentionally designed with substantial capacity margins to ensure consistent supply and energy security.

Example: if your EIA shows 20 kWh average daily consumption, Pi might install a 10 kW solar array with 40–50 kWh of battery storage capacity. (System sizing is determined per property; these figures are illustrative only.) Surplus energy generated by your system is aggregated into Pi's Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and peer-to-peer (P2P) energy marketplace, generating additional revenue that supports the $0.26/kWh anytime rate.

Supply continuity and grid independence

Pi's system design prioritises on-site energy generation and storage. In the unlikely event that your property's energy demand temporarily exceeds on-site capacity, Pi sources additional supply through its VPP and P2P distributed energy marketplace at the same $0.26/kWh anytime rate. Due to the substantial capacity margin built into your system design, grid reliance is minimal under normal operating conditions.

Essential load protection

Your installation includes a dedicated backup circuit supporting essential loads during any supply disruptions:

  • Food preservation (refrigeration)
  • Lighting
  • Communications equipment

This backup capability provides energy security superior to grid-only supply, particularly during network outages or extreme weather events.

Consumption monitoring and optimisation

Pi continuously monitors your energy consumption patterns to optimise system performance and marketplace operations. If your consumption increases significantly above your EIA assessment, Pi's intelligent systems automatically balance supply through our VPP/P2P marketplace while maintaining your $0.26/kWh anytime rate. There is no penalty for increased consumption — Pi's marketplace model benefits from higher energy throughput. You receive real-time monitoring through your customer portal, proactive notifications if usage patterns change, and energy efficiency recommendations.

Force majeure and extraordinary circumstances

The $0.26/kWh anytime rate applies under all normal operating conditions. In extraordinary circumstances beyond Pi's reasonable control, temporary supply disruptions or rate variations may occur. Force majeure events include:

  • Extreme weather events causing transmission network failures
  • Natural disasters affecting energy infrastructure
  • Government-mandated supply restrictions or emergency directions
  • Other events of similar unforeseen and uncontrollable nature

Due to the emergency nature of force majeure events, advance notice is not possible. However, your on-site solar and battery assets provide a critical advantage: grid-connected customers experience complete power outages with no backup capability, whereas Pi Energy customers maintain power to essential loads (refrigeration, lighting, communications) through your dedicated backup circuit, even when the broader network is down.

Any rate variations resulting from force majeure events will be communicated as soon as practicable, with clear explanation of the nature of the event, the expected duration of any variations, the steps being taken to restore normal service, and your rights and options under National Energy Retail Law. Pi will make all reasonable efforts to minimise customer impact and restore standard $0.26/kWh anytime rate pricing as quickly as possible.

Rate stability approach

Pi's intelligent system design approach is anticipated to maintain rate stability due to conservative EIA methodology ensuring accurate consumption assessment, system design with substantial capacity margins, VPP/P2P marketplace optimisation balancing supply and demand across our network, and daily wholesale market reconciliation ensuring cost efficiency.

Your consumer protections

Energy is supplied through a licensed AER-authorised retail energy partner, providing you with full protections under the National Energy Retail Law (NERL), the National Energy Retail Rules (NERR), and Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Pi's retail energy partner extends all legally required consumer protections to Pi Energy customers, including:

  • Energy Ombudsman dispute resolution
  • Hardship provisions and payment assistance programs
  • Clear billing and consumption information
  • Contract variation protections

Regulatory transparency

This pricing structure is made possible through Pi's ownership and operation of on-site energy assets (solar and battery systems), a licensed retail energy supply arrangement with an AER-authorised retailer, VPP and P2P marketplace revenue optimisation, and daily wholesale market reconciliation between Pi and its retail energy partner. This arrangement provides you with the consumer protections of traditional retail energy supply while delivering the benefits of distributed energy resources and innovative marketplace optimisation.
